Attention murderers, rapists, and thieves. But not just you, also swindlers, rustlers, and hucksters. Fraudsters, con-men, and hitmen are welcome too. Los Angeles Mayor Gil Garcetti thanks you for your service. And he wants the rest of us to thank you for spending time in prison. Sure, you didn’t have a choice – but he thinks all of the chumps who obey the law and pay their taxes owe you a debt of gratitude. That’s what he told the people of Los Angeles this week. Presumably he’d also like to thank you for creating jobs and driving the economy forward. Think of all the cops, security guards, insurance adjusters, therapists, prison guards, judges, and court reporters – to name just a few – who couldn’t do it without you. They also thank you! Without you driving demand for their services how would they earn a living?
Garcetti, also known fondly around LA as Mayor Yoga Pants is serious. In the completely unedited audio below Garcetti says this about criminals:
“Our debt of gratitude should be not just thanking them for serving that time but allowing them a pathway back in. They will also have access to services from life skills training to cognitive behavior therapy. You can’t just give folks a job, you have to give services with a job.”
He makes it sound like he is welcoming home war heroes – but he’s talking about convicted felons. And making it sound like a pretty sweet deal too – a better deal than the average law abiding citizen gets. You remember them right? They’re the people who are paying to give Garcetti’s murderers, thieves, and drug dealers government jobs plus bonus life skills training.
Now, to be fair to Garcetti he is talking about about a key Democrat voting bloc – felons. It’s a bloc ably represented by Crooked Hillary, the Party’s presidential candidate this year, and her husband the perjurer and disbarred lawyer. Maybe Garcetti just looks on this as constituent services.
This is the way the Left thinks folks. Up is down. Black is white. Bad is good. And it’s getting worse.
